I’m loving it here and it’s only the end of day 2.
There’s a tangible and different vibe with all the people I’ve met and although I’ve prepared a certain amount for this album I feel like I can relax and just let things take there own shape here. I didn’t know anyone when coming here or if there would even be any good musicians available to help make this album but I trust that Mark, the songs, and being able to hang with some great people and artists I admire will shine through in some way.
It’s inspiring and this album will be a result of that.
As the days go on though, I’m sure I’ll still get on the usual emotional roller coaster that is ‘recording’. I’ve just got to remind myself that this is different to other thingsi’ve done and it is what it is.
Today we got a guy called Jimmy to play some drums in 2 songs and I recorded the acoustic guitar and loops for another. Went to a japanese place for dinner with a bunch of peeps and then attended a weird church service thing inside a cafe.
Feeling good.
There’s something so freeing and special about a person that can captivate a crowd of people with just a guitar, their voice, and their choice of words
Hey Tumblr folk.
At the end of May I’m going to Australia to record my first album.
I’m really excited to be working with Mark Myers(The Middle East) and really looking forward to having new songs to give you.
I was just washing my hands and then - for a split second - there was peace in my chest

To start off with I should mention that I invented the sun. And also that it’s a pleasure to be here tonight.
They say life is short, but I’m not so sure. I’ve been putting off writing these notes for what feels like a century. And I know most of you quickly checked the length of this piece before you started reading it and hoped it was short—as if you couldn’t spare the 90 sec- onds out of the $86,000 in a day. I put the dollar sign in there to keep you interested. I do not know what tonight will hold. Because from where I’m sitting, tonight is a month away and a little brandy would help clear my head. Seriously.
The moral of the story is don’t be afraid to put yourself out there sometimes.Even if you’re pretty certain it will make no difference.
I was just on one of those super fast moving chat rooms with about 1000 users and just for kicks I posted a link to our bandcamp page.
It was gone in a second.
Then another second later I saw a comment saying “Wow! I know Mali Mali”.
I thought it would just be someone I know but I continued to try and chat to this person among the rapid stream of anonymous commenters.
Turns out they’re from Brazil and somehow found our page by watching a Sigur Ros video on Youtube months ago. They also put us in their music blog.
Now we are tumblr friends and here’s their side of the story…
elskhugi:
I was watching Jónsi’s Q&A about We Bought A Zoo OST and someone posted Mali Mali bandcamp. And… no one knows Mali Mali.
Only with Sigur Rós fans those things happen! It made my night :)
You should listen to them, it is great.
I’m really glad Mali Mali is something special to someone so far away. I will continue to work at making this not such an uncommon thing.

We had a really nice intimate gig at Lewis Eady last week.
Lately it’s been a bit more of a challenge to find time for gigs so when opportunities to play come up we do treasure them! I’ve been wanting to play at Lewis Eady again for a while and it was worth the wait.
Here are some videos from the gig
Thanks to Emily Adeane for filming these.
“…I find that poetry doesn’t suit my speed. Mostly I cannot understand what is being said. I don’t want to be teased with feathers by someone tittering in a harlequin mask hiding behind a pillar—I want to be high-fived or hugged by a blinged out mothereffer. Hug a thug!”

Here’s a video of us playing “Niece” live at the Lewis Eady music shop last year.
These gigs were important for me as I felt like I was just starting to play music live the way I wanted to play it. I still feel like I’m very much at the beginning of trying to figure out what works live but I’m enjoying the process.
This was before we released the Brotherly EP.
Hope you enjoy
